Samsung’s strong profit triggered profit-taking after a 150% AI-chip rally. Investors shift to memory chip beneficiaries; Amazon pursues $25B bonds for AI. Debate grows over OpenAI’s proposed 5% US government stake.

Samsung’s record quarterly profit failed to calm a stock market that had already priced in a near-150% AI-fueled rally, so investors took chips off the table. At the same time Amazon is lining up at least $25 billion of U.S. dollar bonds to bankroll artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, a direct pipeline of cash toward datacenters, servers and memory makers. That shifting capital, plus the Mag 7's tepid 1.7% index gain in 2026, matters because the market is moving from headline names to the supply chain where actual AI spending will be spent, namely memory players like Micron and Sandisk.
